Brittany, the cradle of innovation inspired by the sea
Founded in 1959 by Daniel Roullier, TIMAC AGRO has its roots in the rich coastline of Brittany. Its name, Traitement Industriel du Maërl en Amendement Calcaire (Industrial Treatment of Maërl as a Limestone Amendment), already embodies this unique alliance between science and nature.
Maërl, a calcareous algae used to improve the fertility of acidic soils, was at the origin of a first revolution: the fine industrial grinding developed by TIMAC AGRO, making this resource more soluble and more effective. This pioneering process optimised the availability of nutrients in the soil, a major innovation for Breton agriculture at the time.
Fifty years later, the spirit of innovation continues with the discovery of a new, natural and effective source of calcium: marine shells. Composed of aragonite (70%) and calcite (30%), this material from the Brittany coast is distinguished by its high porosity and solubility. Processed using an exclusive method, it becomes the basis for high-tech products such as Calcimer and Physiolith, global benchmarks in limestone amendments.

This scientific approach has given rise to a wide range of innovative products: mineral blocks, biostimulants, fertilisers and much more. Among them, the ADN range, launched in 2019, perfectly illustrates this dynamic: a concentrate of marine biotechnology at the service of agronomic performance.
